Adam McAllan
After many unsuccessful attempts to get on an apprenticeship programme, Adam McAllan took the initiative to improve his chances by enrolling on our CMDE course. The results were impressive and saw Adam reach his goal.
Adam McAllan, 19, from Reiss left school in 2004 disappointed with his results, though his mind was firmly set on becoming an electrician. Instead of being downhearted, after several unsuccessful interviews for an apprenticeship Adam picked himself up and decided to improve his chances. He enrolled on the CMDE course which provides an overview of electrical, mechanical, and electronic engineering. Adam welcomed the support available, particularly with maths in which he needed to put in extra study. He says, "this course gave me an insight into engineering and the class discussions gave me more confidence." He decided to pursue his studies on the HNC Electrical Engineering course and recently secured an apprenticeship with G & A Barnie in Wick. Adam says, "I would recommend anyone looking for an apprenticeship to come to The North Highland College. I learned so much, and I am certain had I not gone to college I would not have been acceptend on an apprenticeship."
