The Farr Bay Inn is very easy to find. We are located on the A836 on the north coast of Scotland.

We are approximately fifty miles west of John O'Groats (at the top right hand corner of Britain), and forty miles east of Durness (at the top left).

From Thurso

Simply follow the A836 west. In order you will pass through Reay, Melvich, Strathy, and then past Armadale before reaching the village of Bettyhill. As you approach the village the Farr Bay Inn is well sign posted on the right and is located at the foot of the hill on the way up to the centre of the village.

From Helmsdale

Follow the ever winding and fabulously picturesque A897 north until you reach the end of the road. Then turn left and head for some miles through Melvich, Strathy, and Armadale until you reach the village of Bettyhill. As you approach the village the Farr Bay Inn is well sign posted on the right and is located at the foot of the hill on the way up to the centre of the village.

From Lairg

Follow the A836 north for some miles until you reach Altnaharra. When exiting Altnaharra you will see a crossroads and signpost. Turn right here and follow the sign to Bettyhill. When approaching Bettyhill from the western side like this, we are on the way out of the village, so pass through and you will see our sign on the left at the bottom of the hill just past the Tourist Information building.

From the south

Follow the A9 northwards beyond Inverness until you reach Tain. As you exit Tain you will soon see signs for Bonar Bridge (A836) - follow these until you reach it. Then follow the signs to Lairg (A836) and then the directions above.
