    Qualification
    National Certificate in Equestrian Skills and Business Studies

    SCQF level : 6

    Requirements Four Standard Grades at level 3 or above, to include English. Mature students will be considered on individual merit. All applicants are interviewed.

    Course description

    Who can join?

    You should hold four Standard Grades at level 4 or above including English. Mature students or those not holding the required qualifications are welcome: all applicants will be considered on individual merit and will be assessed at interview. You are also welcome to attend the Equestrian Taster Weeks, held twice per year in May and November (see later entry).

    How do I attend?

    The course is full time for one academic year.

    What will I study?

    In addition to the range of equestrian skills you will learn, business skills are also included to enhance your employment prospects.

    The course is based at the Equestrian Centre in Achavrole, Halkirk with the emphasis on the practical aspects of equestrian skills. The centre provides indoor and outdoor schools, covered stable area, quality horses and opportunities to take part in local competitions.

    Rotational weekend work from November – March is a necessary requirement of the course. This would normally be one week in four.

    In addition students are prepared for British Horse Society Examinations.
