The four campuses that make up North Highland College; Thurso, Wick, Dornoch and Alness, together with an electronically linked network of learning centres, allows the College to reach learners in remote areas, as well as meet the needs of employers and support local economic activity and development.
The College hosts two prestigious research centres; the Environmental Research Institute, in Thurso and the UHI Centre for History, in Dornoch. Both centres support the educational and economic development of the area with research focussed on energy and the environment and the role of heritage tourism, respectively.
Whether your learning journey begins with a programme easing you back into education, or with a vocational scholarship to carry out some taster research work, we hope you will choose to begin that journey with us. The UHI Millenium Institute
The North Highland College is a partner of UHI Millenium Institute - the future University Of The Highlands And Islands.
UHI is a unique partnership of fifteen colleges and research institutions across the Highlands and Islands. Each college and research institution has its own distinctive character and strengths. This means that students of UHI can share in the educational advantages of a larger institution whilst benefiting from the personal attention which a smaller college, like The North Highland College, can provide.
UHI's mission is to play a pivotal role in the educational, economic, social and cultural development of the region through the establishment of a University of the Highlands and Islands.
